Our History

In 1979 Hannes Breytenbach joined the law firm known as Jac. H Smit & Co., in South Africa, as a partner. When Lenza Breytenbach and Connie Prinsloo joined, it evolved into Breytenbach Prinsloo Incorporated, a flourishing and well-established South African law firm, and one of the largest rural based solicitors' firms in South Africa.

The company continued to expand, and in November 1998, Hannes and Lenza Breytenbach spearheaded its growth into London, to serve the legal needs of Britain's many South Africans, as well as those of other commonwealth citizens. In 2001, the firm separated into two legal entities: in Rustenburg, South Africa the firm kept on practising under the name of Breytenbach Prinsloo Incorporated and in London the name from Breytenbach Prinsloo to Breytenbach & Co, trading as Breytenbachs.

Our clientele has since expanded to comprise a broader spectrum, including UK citizens and other nationalities.
